High lead levels found in plastic soldiers

Scary stuff huh? Over 2,000 toys sold in clearance & cheap stores had been confiscated from a Melbourne warehouse because of the dangerously high levels of lead in them. This only happened a few days ago so I thought it was worth a mention to highlight how dangerous and toxic plastic toys can be. As quoted in The Australian newspaper “Lead in toys can be ingested by children sucking on them and lead has for many years been a severe inhibitor of children’s development.”

Unfortunately some toys that are manufactured and imported from overseas don’t have the same safety standards and testing that Australian companies would so its really important to check that the toys comply with Australian & European standards for toy safety.
