The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption of forest products, enabling consumers to make purchasing decisions that benefit people and the environment.

The FSC label is nationally represented in more than 50 countries and ensures that the timber used for the production of wooden products protects and maintains our forest’s natural biodiversity, productivity and ecological processes.

FSC certification:

• Prohibits the use of wood from natural forests or other natural habitats around the world.
  
• Prohibits the use of highly hazardous pesticides around the world.
  
• Prohibits the cultivation of genetically modified trees (GMOs).
  
• Respects the right of indigenous peoples around the world.

It's your guarantee that a forest or plantation is well managed and meets recognised international environmental and social standards. Natural forests provide us with clean water, fresh air and help combat global warming. If managed responsibly, forests and plantations benefit people. However, in some countries as much as 80% of the timber is harvested illegally, often resulting in the violation of human rights and destruction of protected forests.
